Though the trip was short, the impact was huge!    Fulbright Finland Inter-Country Awardee 2016-2017

The IC grant funded by Fulbright Finland covers the invited professional's travel expenses from the U.S. Fulbrighter's current host city in Europe to the IC host city in Finland. The Finnish institution is expected to cover other resulting expenses.

The inter-country visit must take place during the U.S. lecturer's Fulbright grant period.

Application Procedure

Applying for the Inter-Country Travel Grant is easy!
Just follow these steps:

  1. Contact U.S. Fulbright scholar, lecturer, teacher or advanced PhD student currently on their Fulbright grant period in Europe. If you don't have any specific Fulbrighter in mind, you can find a suitable lecturer from the database of U.S. Fulbright scholars in Europe for the current academic year.
  2. Agree the details of the visit with the U.S. Fulbrighter. If the host has not had previous contact with the scholar, Fulbright Finland may initiate contact on the host's behalf.
  3. Fill out the Inter-Country Travel Grant application and send it to Fulbright Finland by e-mail at emilia.holopainen(at)fulbright.fi or mail it to the Fulbright Finland office with a possible invitation letter.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

After the grant has been awarded, the Finnish host is responsible for making the visit arrangements directly with the visiting lecturer. Travel costs will be reimbursed for the inviting institution and/or the visiting lecturer after the visit against original travel tickets and receipts.
