Arrival Orientation for the 2015-2016 U.S. Fulbrighters

The Arrival Orientation for the 2015-2016 U.S. Fulbrighters was organized on August 24-27. During the four-day orientation, the Fulbrighters learned about Finnish culture, history and society as well as the Finnish-American Fulbright Program.

Pre-Departure Orientation and Award Ceremony for the Finnish Fulbright Grantees 2015-2016

The Fulbright Center organized orientation for 41 Fulbright Center grantees including  Finnish students, scholars, teachers, and working professionals.The Award Ceremony hosted by the City of Helsinki and the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs was held at the Helsinki City Hall on May 12, 2015. Fulbright Forum 2015

The second Jyväskylä Forum was organized on March 5-6, 2015 at the University of Jyväskylä.

U.S. Fulbrighters in Finland presented on Education Innovations as well as a wide array of topics from various fields of science, from how information & communication technologies shape human lives to American perspective on Finnish judges and the European Union.

North American Studies Roundtable

University collaboration in the teaching of North American Studies in Finland was the topic of the most recent Fulbright Transatlantic Roundtable. The event gathered together representatives from five Finnish universities, the Canadian and U.S. Embassies, and the John Morton Center for North American Studies, to design concrete action plans for future cooperation in the field. Today’s group also agreed to create a joint webpage collecting together in one place information on all programs and course offerings in the field of North American Studies at Finnish institutions and it will be available in early April here

Spring Orientation for American Grantees 

The spring orientation for arriving U.S. Fulbright grantees was at the Fulbright Center on February 2-3, 2015. Find out more about the orientation and the participants here.

Visitors from Drake University

In January the Fulbright Center hosted a delegation of Education students, professors, principals and administrators from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa led by Dr. Trent Grundmeyer. The delegation learned about Fulbright Center programs and services as well as about Finnish education system and internationalization of Finnish education.
