Grant Programs
The grant programs
administered by the Fulbright Center offer students, scholars, teachers,
and professionals unique possibilities to carry out study and research
projects in the United States. In addition to the grant stipend, grantees
are offered a substantial package of additional services and benefits,
including a free accident and sickness insurance, personal advising
services and training sessions before departure, as well as access to
seminars and events organized by the Fulbright program during the
grantee's stay in the United States.
The purpose of the Fulbright
Center grant programs is to increase mutual understanding between the
peoples of Finland and the United States by means of educational and
cultural exchange, and to promote international cooperation for
educational and cultural advancement.
The funding awarded by the
Fulbright Center to Finnish and American grantees totals approximately 600
000 euros a year. Grantees receive either full or partial funding for the
scholarship period. Funding is made up of appropriations from the Finnish
and the American governments and the Finland-America Educational Trust
Fund. The Fulbright Center cannot offer funding outside the grant programs.
