International Education Week 2013

Starting tomorrow, on November 12, the Fulbright Center will recognize International Education Week, the annual worldwide celebration of the value of international education and exchange. First held in 2000, International Education Week is now celebrated in more than 100 countries worldwide.

The Fulbright Center activities will begin on November 12 with the release of Open Doors, an annual survey that provides information about U.S. student study in Finland and Finnish student study in the United States, and will continue through the week of November 18. Some of the Fulbright Center events taking place during IEW include:                                 

  • Nov 12 at 14-15: Webinar on Student Visas
  • Nov 14 at 10-11: Fulbright Bicentennial Chair Frederick Wasser’s Inaugural Address: “Filmed History and American Studies: The Case of Lincoln”, University of Helsinki, Lecture Hall 12, University Main Building
  • Nov 18-20: Fulbright Center  visits capital region high schools with Vanderbilt University, info sessions on U.S. undergraduate study and funding opportunities
  • Nov 18 at 16-18: Info session on U.S. undergraduate studies and funding opportunities with Vanderbilt University as a case example,  at the Fulbright Center
  • Nov 18 at 10-14: Study Abroad Fair at Aalto University
  • Nov 19: Tampere University of Technology, KV-kahvit international event
  • Nov 19: International Education Expo – Studying in the U.S., University of Helsinki main library, Kaisa house
  • Nov 20: University of Lapland’s International Week: International Fair at 11-13; info sessions on Studies in the U.S. and TOEFL iBT test at 14-15.30
  • Nov 21 at 16-17: Guest lecture by two-time Fulbright alumna to Finland Cherie Sampson: Puut Punalle, Maat Sinelle: Performance art in the Finnish Landscape from 1998-2011, at the Fulbright Center
