  • Cost-share funding included, total of EUR 800,000 given out as grants
  • 3,500 Finnish and 1,500 American grantees since beginning of ASLA program in 1949.

Fulbright Center Funding

  • 74% from Finland (Trust Fund, private foundations, Finnish universities, Finnish government)
  • 25% from the United States (19% the U.S. Government, 6% other)

Fulbright Grant Award Ceremony
The event, honoring the Finnish Fulbright Grantees for 2011-2012, was hosted by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Department for Communications and Culture.

Study Tour
The Fulbright Center organized a study tour for the Finnish University rectors on Governance and Funding of U.S. Higher Education.

Visiting Lecturers
During the year several lecturers visited the Fulbright Center, including Matt McGann from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology who talked with Finnish higher education professionals about Enhancing Collaboration with a Global Alumni Network.

Seminar on Standardized Testing
Fulbright Center organized a seminar about the use of standardized testing in the student selection process in higher education institutions.

FinnFest 2011 in San Diego, California
Fulbright Center participated in FinnFest 2011 to promote the Finnish Fulbright program and Finnish higher education. Friends of Fulbright Finland, a network of alumni of the Finnish Fulbright program, organized an art exhibit and gathered at an alumni open house held locally.
