Alumni Get-Togethers during the American Voices Seminar
Get Together with Alumni and New U.S. Grantees in Turku!
As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States through the 33rd American Voices seminar on October 9-10, we are offering more opportunities than ever for Fulbright Finland alumni to take part in the celebrations, reconnect with fellow Fulbrighters, meet this year's U.S. grantees, and expand your network within the alumni community.
The Fulbright Finland Foundation and the ASLA-Fulbright Alumni Association invite alumni to join informal gatherings and activities on Thursday, October 8, and Saturday, October 10.

Some of the activities have limited capacity and places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so act fast to secure your spot!
Thursday, October 8
13:30-16:00 | Guided Tour at Forum Marinum - Maritime Centre

Explore Finland's maritime history with fellow alumni and grantees during a guided tour of Forum Marinum. Both the entrance fees and the tour are generously sponsored by Fulbright Finland alum (2015-17) and FoFF Alumni Council member Ed Sivak.

Kick off the seminar weekend with an informal evening at Restaurant Koulu. We have reserved a private room and will offer tapas-style refreshments. Drinks and any additional food items are at your own expense.

14:00-16:00 | Walking Tour and Guided Tour at ABOA VETUS - ARS NOVA Museum
Walking tour begins at Kårkafe Aurum, Henrikinkatu 2

Take a stroll through Turku! A local Fulbright Finland alum will lead us on an informal walk through the university quarters of Turku, sprinkled with stories from Finnish academic life, politics, and traditions.
The program continues at 15:00 with a guided tour at ABOA VETUS – ARS NOVA uncovering history of life from medieval Turku as well as the contemporary art exhibition.
The guided tour is sponsored by the Foundation. Museum admission is self-paid (14€ without a Museum Card). The program concludes at 16:00.

Continue the conversation and catch up with fellow alumni over a drink at Pub 5piste5. All purchases are at your own expense.
Travel Support for Fulbright Buddies
As a thank you to our volunteer Fulbright Buddies for helping this year's U.S. grantees feel at home in Finland, the Foundation will reimburse their travel expenses to attend the American Voices seminar.
- Travel arrangements should be made by the least expensive means available (train or bus). Please save your travel tickets and receipts, since those will be needed for reimbursement. More info on reimbursements below.
- If you are planning to travel to Turku by plane, please contact the Foundation in advance to discuss the ticket fares before booking your flights.
- Travel costs are reimbursed if you attend the American Voices seminar program (at least) on Saturday, October 10.
Please note the following regarding travel tickets:
- Purchase your tickets only from official sites (such as VR for trains, Onnibus or Matkahuolto for buses). Do not use third party services, because they will charge you more and also add a service fee. The Foundation does not cover the additional service fees if you purchase your ticket from a third-party website.
- Local taxi/bus/tram/metro rides within your departure city or the city of the event are not reimbursed.
- the Foundation does not reimburse any costs which may occur from changing your tickets, purchasing cancellation insurance, or buying extra services e.g. the seat next to you or a cabin.
- We will be able to reimburse a maximum of total 150 € for your travel to and from Turku.
- The Foundation doesn't cover any accommodation costs for alumni.
