First action items
During your first week in Finland, it’s important to take care of essential administrative steps:
- Register at DVV: Enroll in the Finnish Population Register and submit your notification of move (not necessary for short-term visits)
- Apply for ID: Get a Finnish ID card or identity verification certificate from the Police (optional).
- Banking and Grant Payment: Open a local bank account (optional) and learn how you will receive your grant payment.
- Phone Setup: Arrange a working phone connection.
- Healthcare Fee: Master’s students must pay the student healthcare fee to KELA.
