Follow these steps:
Degree students
- Follow the university’s schedule for the program’s start and end dates. You do not need to send them to the Foundation.
- The Foundation will automatically send you your Fulbright Finland Grant Authorization. Sign the document as soon as possible and submit it to the Foundation and to the IIE Portal.
- The Grant Authorization will be written for the dates of August 1 to June 6. This is mainly because your Fulbright program begins already at the end of August with the mandatory Arrival Orientation arranged by the Foundation in Helsinki. It also gives you a bit more flexibility at the end of the spring semester. Your maintenance allowance will, however, be paid out in nine monthly installments from September to May.
Research Students
- Finalize the exact dates for your visit to your host institution promptly. These dates mark your official affiliation with the host institution and the period when you carry out your Fulbright program there.
- Email the dates to your program coordinator at the Foundation by no later than the deadline given by your Foundation program coordinator.
- You cannot receive your Fulbright Finland Grant Authorization and apply for a residence permit before you have finalized the exact dates of your visit to the host institution. Thus, make sure to agree on the dates promptly.
- In addition to your visiting dates at the host institution, we will ask you to send us your flight dates.
- After you have submitted your official grant dates, we can produce your official Fulbright agreement (the Fulbright Finland Grant Authorization/Terms of Award) with the correct dates for your visit. Sign the document as soon as you receive it from us and submit it to the Foundation and the IIE Portal.
